Dice Inspector
Las Vegas, Nevada
Although not a gambling man, Bob Boehmer is more familiar with dice
than the slickest craps shooter. Employed by the Nevada Gaming Board,
which randomly collects dice from the craps tables in Las Vegas,
Bob has the job of inspecting them. First he checks to make sure
that they are not misspotted. If the four is on one side, there
must be a three directly opposite; the numbers on opposite sides
must always add up to seven. Bob checks the dice for right angles,
for correct spin, and for calibration, making sure that all sides
are identical in size. With twenty years of service under his belt,
Bob remembers only one case of crooked dice.
